I believe that the important theme from the book Turnabout was some things just shouldn’t be changed. The reason I think this is Dr. Reed and Dr. Jimson tried to cure death by making something that would allow people to stay young, but instead they ended up causing the deaths of 48 out of 50 of the people tested with P-1. Also their cure, P-1, didn’t even work. It just made the tested people die a different way; they would age backwards until they got to the end, their births. P-1 was also a mistake because it caused the participants such heartache. Many of them committed suicide because they were secluded from their families and their memories were starting to disappear.

My Favorite Character From Turnabout

My favorite character from my book club book is Anny Beth. In this book she is characterized as someone who speaks her mind. On page 30, when Anny Beth is having an argument with Mrs. Swanson and Mrs. Swanson is talking smack about how Anny Beth was raised and how she raised her family, she told Mrs. Swanson off in front of a whole group of people. I also loved how Anny Beth could be joking one minute and then serious the next, like on page 40. At first she is joking around about how crazy the adoption parents on the website seem but then, she gets very sympathetic towards Melly when Melly gets disappointed about not being able to find a suitable guardian.

I love sooooooooooooooooooo many characters but one of my favorites was Patch from the book Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. Right away he pulled me in. When he met Nora for the first time he was just so hysterically sarcastic that even though Nora got offended, I was cracking up in my seat. He was also really mysterious. When he wouldn’t help Nora with their project and Nora decided to make him help, she found him playing pool in a club. Even though as the book carried on he gradually got more serious (both in attitude and his feelings for Nora) he still possessed that irresistible demeanor. Once he and Nora started being together, he got so protective and caring that he sacrificed something he had been waiting forever for just to save her. I related to Patch because I also tend to be very sarcastic. I also have to know someone very well before I am able to trust them completely. Overall, I think Patch is an amazing character.

1.       I really loved the Hunger Games  series and the book Grave Mercy. Some other books I liked were the Paranormalcy series, the Body Finder series, Cinder by Marisa Meyer, and Graceling by Kristen Cashore. I loved these books because they had very strong willed female characters that never let other people and their opinions get in there way. The main characters also all have a huge problem that they must overcome. I also like books that have a lot of sarcastic people in it because I think that adds a lot of humor to stories.

2.       I like to read fantasy and science fiction because I like the idea of the impossible becoming possible. I also have an very active imagination so I like to think about the appearance of things in books and I think all the unrealistic qualities in these types of books really help it to bring it to life in my head.

3.       The book I am reading right now is Prodigy by Marie Lu. This is the sequel to Legend. Right when the book starts of it shows the main characters Day and June escaping from the Republic, the government that they previously lived under. Due to the fact that the know Republic secrets and they escaped from their executions, they are wanted criminals so they must be extra careful or else they will be killed. They are trying to get to the Patriots, a group of rebel revolutionaries that might be able to help them with there biggest problems; day has been shot in the leg, Day’s little brother is being held by the Republic, and Day hopes to find his Patriot friend Tessa. Unfortunately though, the Patriots will not help them at all unless June and Day do want they want, kill the leader of the Republic. June will be the one to kill him and Day must travel around and spread word of the rebellion. In order to do this June must go into the Republic’s custody so she can get close to the Elector Primo, the leader, and kill him. When they decide that this is the only way they will ever possibly be safe, the two more-than-friends go there separate ways so the can uphold their sides of the bargain. The man who “finds” June is the man who killed her brother she has a lot of resentment towards him. She puts aside her anger though so that she can convince him to take her to Denver where the Elector Primo is. She tells him that she has some extremely important news about their enemies that they will not find out without her help. this is where I stopped.
